The report added that Rahul will leave for July either by the end of this month or by early July.
Earlier in the day, a group of Indian players left for UK. Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, KS Bharat as well as Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj were among the players who left for London from Mumbai on June 16. Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma did not leave for England on Thursday and is expected to join the squad soon.
In 2021, India left England without playing the final Test due to the Covid outbreak. The rescheduled Test will now be played from July 1-5.
Two Indian teams will simultaneously play in England. While Hardik Pandya-led India will play two matches against Ireland, Rohit Sharma & Co. will kick off the tour with a four-day practice game against Leicestershire followed by the one-off Test.
